This July, the WSO hits the road with Celebrate America!, a Fourth of July celebratory tour. From July 4 – 7, the WSO will begin this celebration tour in Wheeling’s Heritage Port and then travel to Weirton, Canaan Valley, and Clarksburg. As part of the WSO Community Concert series, all four of the Celebrate America! performances are free to attend.

For this year’s tour, the WSO, Music Director John Devlin will be joined by guest artist Ben Gulley, sponsored by Southwestern Energy. An award-winning tenor, Ben will join the WSO to perform beloved Broadway and patriotic classics for a well-rounded Fourth of July celebration. In addition, the WSO will proudly perform “Canaan Valley Suite,” a piece written by West Virginia native and voice of West Virginia Public Broadcasting Matt Jackfert.

This year’s Wheeling performance is sponsored by the City of Wheeling and the Ohio County Commission. “We are thankful to our tour sponsor; Southwestern Energy and our local concert sponsors the City of Wheeling and the Ohio County Commission. Their support ensures that we can bring free concerts to our community,” Sonja Thoms, WSO Executive Director.

“Our event will take place on the West Porch of WesBanco Arena and is free to attend. The doors will open at 4 pm and music by The Plate Scrapers from 5 – 7 pm,” said Kelly Tucker, Executive Director of WesBanco Arena and the Capitol Theatre. “We’re very excited and we are happy to partner with the WSO and Pepsi to present this event.”
